Aesthetic Dental Prosthesis
When the functions of a tooth (chewing, appearance) cannot be restored by filling, a crown may be necessary. In our surgery we routinely prepare natural looking crowns and bridges.

The crown is a restoration covering the full surface of the tooth, and protecting it from breakage. It does not discolour and is very durable.

The material of the crown is usually ceramo-metallic - porcelain, bonded to a thin metal structure. On the outside only the porcelain is visible. It is very long lasting, but it may not always gives back the natural transparency of the tooth.
Non-metal crowns imitate the natural aesthetics of the tooth perfectly. Various technologies are available, like Belleglass with synthetic fibre structure, Empress pressed ceramic or the latest, the Procera crown casting prepared with CAD-CAM scanning technology.

One of the methods of replacing missing teeth is the preparation of a bridge, using the teeth either side of the gap as a pillar. The material used for a bridge is usually also ceramo-metallic, as it is strong enough to withstand the physical stresses the bridge is subjected to.

When the gap is small, non-metal bridges can be made, such as the Procera bridge, using CAD-CAM technology.
